Over three months ago, the Status Leadership Team was invited to submit names of people from within our church family to be considered for eldership. And since that time, the Transition Team has spent time praying through those names, meeting with many of those nominated and seeking God’s guidance on who He would have as part of the Elder body.

As we’ve considered many factors and sought the Lord spiritually in this process, we’re grateful that God has led us tot the following people:

We want to give the community at large a period of time to provide feedback to ensure that these listed will be found above reproach and ready and willing to serve in an Elder role. Barring any unexpected feedback, after a period of two weeks we will commission these individuals to unite in the leadership of our church family.

Let’s unite in prayer and support of these nine people over the next two weeks as we move forward in this very important process.

The world would call us victims, Jesus calls us conquerors.

The world would call us broken, Jesus calls us whole.

The world would call us liars, Jesus would call us right.

The world would call us heartless, Jesus would call us filled with the Spirit.

The world would call us individuals, Jesus would call us a family.

The world would call us angry, Jesus would call us filled with love.

The world would look at us and say “There’s something wrong. The world is going to hell in a  hand basket. People only live for themselves. People only do things to protect themselves. It’s survival of the fittest. It’s a dog-eat-dog world; if you can’t get yours, you’re going to be devoured.”

Jesus says the direct opposite. He says “I own it all. You’re my child and you have access to Me. You’re a co-heir with Christ. You’re my son, you’re my daughter, you are purchased by My blood. “

The world will say you’re worthless, but Jesus says “you are worthy.”

The world will say you’re helpless, but Jesus says “no, you have help.”

The world will say you’re hopeless, but Jesus says “wait a minute, I paid for all of this so that every day you can live the resurrected, filled life that I intended you to live from the beginning.”

That’s what our Jesus does. That’s what our God does.

We’re not victims, we’re conquerors.

You are not dead, you are alive.

No matter what faces me tonight or tomorrow, my God is bigger than it. My God is better than it. My God knows me by name.

That is the gospel we’re praising Jesus about.

It is said the King loves ruins.

That He looks down on crumbled brick on crumbled brick and is moved.

That He is touched by scorched gates, walls and remnants of what was.

But know this.

The Lord may love ruins.

But HE DOES NOT SEE RUINS.

In the King’s eyes, you are no desolate worn outpost.

You are no unnamed abandoned bunker.

You, are fortresses with names and legends that go before your walls.

So when the ruiner comes, let the hammers on your gate ring out.

Stand fast.

Let them resonate into the rock you were cut from, and let those strikes sing songs of fear into the hearts that swing them.

Breathe deep. Give them a moment to know this fear.

For you may believe you are ruins.

You may have once been a city crushed.

But dear fortresses all of you…

YOU ARE REBUILT CITIES!

YOU ARE BRICKS REDEEMED AND RESHAPED!

YOU ARE TIMBER RE-CUT AND WEATHERED!

YOU ARE WALLS LINES WITH WARRIORS AND PROUD PEASANTS SINGING LOUDLY THAT THERE IS REFUGE!

So, light your torches, and arm yourselves.

Shovels and swords.

Every working, and always ready.

In one voice, make yourself known.

Resonate.

For all of you’ve been and all you will become.

You are the rebuilt Jerusalem.

You are the rock hewn, Helms Deep.

You are the iron fortress, Isengard.

You are Care Paravel, in all its glory.

Carry this with you.

It took the Holy Spirit to remind me, just this morning, of how plans are His department. My efforts are not the currency of my progress. Perhaps if I were of the world, but I am not. Even now, He’s ministering to me!  His plans are directing my life.

Where I was unemployed, I now get full-time pay for part-time hours. Where I struggled to save money for a lawyer, He’s provided one to take my case pro-bono.  Where I struggled to manage my finances, He’s provided someone to guide me in the wisdom of stewardship. Where I struggled to spend time with my daughter, we now play, jam, learn, and just chill every week…  and much more is to come!

What’s more, He’s put me in the position to minister to children every night of the week. PHENOMENAL!!!!!

My daughter used to struggle with reading, but my mom (her grandma) has been a teacher for many years. Every week I get to see the excitement on her face as she learns something new and gets to take a new book home.

HE JUST DOESN’T STOP!

Even in my darkest days, even when i’m MOST unfaithful, OUR JEHOVAH DOESN’T QUIT! His incredible love pushes me on. Just the simple hope He has in me, fuels my faith and trust in Him. I just can’t be afraid because His love drives it out. And I sho’ can’t hang my head. He takes personal pride in my smile!

This past Thursday, we opened up asking God for healing for some people in our community. Then we sang some songs together. It was a fantastic time. Then, for some reason, the Spirit reminded me of the amount of favor He has shown us individually and collectively. As I was thanking God for it, I started seeing the specific favor He had given each of the people in the room. Some in business, some creatively, some culturally, some in education, some in healthcare. But no matter the area, it was obvious that the room was full of people who had been given a platform in their area of work and life. Each of them had been given a level of responsibility and relationship that had the potential to shape their workplace, the individuals around them and ultimately our city and the world.

I am so blessed to see that God continues to give us opportunities to reflect Jesus to the people we come in contact with. Not just quietly from the background but in ways that seem to be thriving! It’s amazing to see the ideas that have and continue to come out of our family. And it’s amazing to see how people’s lives flourish as they come in contact with what God is doing in and through us!

I believe God wants to continue to increase our level of responsibility and influence. And I believe there are some things we MUST press on in as that happens :

1. Stewardship : God hasn’t given us much so that we can hoard or become rich. He gives us much so we can give away more.
2. Responsibility : To whom must is given, much is required. And as we’re responsible with what we have today, God will increase tomorrow.
3. Love : Everything we do and say must be built on the foundation of the sacrificial and unconditional love modeled by Jesus.
4. Remaining : In seasons of abundance, it’s easy to begin leaning on our own understanding. But, if we’re to continue on, we must learn to remain in Christ in the abundance.
5. Excellence : I believe one of the reasons God continues to give us opportunity is because we’re committed to working well. Check out Proverbs 22:29 and Luke 7:37 for more on that.

I can’t wait to see how God continues to bear fruit in and through us! Love you all.

“Hi. My names Gina. I used to come to Status 6 years ago…as a missionary with YWAM. Since leaving YWAM I’vve just kind of fell away from everything. I didn’t want to be apart of God anymore, I didn’t want Him to be a part of me but, that doesn’t usually work out. So, he’s just been calling me back and calling my heart back to him. About two weeks ago before I knew that you guys were baptizing anyone, [I found this scripture]… Romans 6 “When we went under the water we left the old country of sin behind, when we came up out of the water we entered into a new country of grace a new life and a new land. That is what baptism into the life of jesus means, when we are lowered into the water it is like the burial of jesus, when we are raised up out of the water it is like the resurrection of jesus. each of us is raised into a light filled world by our father so that we can see where we are going in our new grace sovereign country.” So, for me, it’s just dying to that life I thought I wanted to live and just living for God again.” -Gina

“Well this is so random but, that’s what God is sometimes. He’s random! You know I’ve been so filled with the spirit tonight, more than I’ve ever been in my entire life. I’ve been up and down in this roller coaster and god has just filled me and compelled me to do this tonight. I’m so blessed right now. He has done so much in my life…” -Mattie king

“I’m kayla… I woke up this morning and I couldn’t figure out why I was up. I knew I was going to come to status tonight after I was done babysitting like I always do. I walked into the room and remembered that there was baptizing going on today and I though “Oh, this should be something to see.” And then I had this overwhelming vision about 15 minutes ago that I was being put under and it was the most fulfilling thing I’d ever felt in my entire life. I have my community behind me and my best friend, and my brothers and sisters, and they’ve been the greatest thing that has ever happened to me… I can’t thank them enough. I just want to tell you guys I love you, I love all of you. I’ve been struggling with judgment for a really long time and today it just finally fell off of me…” -Kayla

“I’m still rejoicing over Sunday night, and the opportunity I had to teach, and speak to our community with the things God has put on my heart to share.

The great irony of teaching on the idea of ‘equipping’, is that during my several weeks of preparation, I never had the satisfaction of feeling equipped.  I never felt the sense of ‘I got this’.  And to be quite honest, that’s exactly what I wanted.  I prayed hard for it – “God give me clarity! Let me feel I’ve got this under control!”  But to me, those prayers are sometimes a euphimism for “God let me go back to the place where I didn’t ‘need’ you!”

So naturally, we battled and wrestled over this.  I struggled with my outline, and fitting all the ideas and stories together.  Three weeks chewing on the same scriptures and ideas and concepts, and no clarity.. really God?  Even up until Sunday, I was making revisions, and not feeling the amount of coherence I had desired.  And as the time to teach approached, my prayers were forced to change.  I was forced to surrender my control, because I knew it would only paralyze me up on stage.  So my prayer transformed… ‘God I hope YOU have this under control, because even after all my preparations and practice, I surely do not.”

So in the greatest of irony, he never gave me the peace of feeling fully “equipped” to teach.  But all the while, and especially the days leading up to the teaching, here’s what he did do… (and looking back now, it all makes sense).  Instead of giving me confidence in myself, he surrounded me with encouragements from the Body of Christ – my family here at Status!  I received emails, texts, and phone calls to say not just “You got this” in praise of my strengths… but saying things like “I trust God is going to move through you”, and “I trust He wants to use you, and you will let him!, and “I’ve been praying for you all week.”

Wow.  This, I now believe, is what it means to be equipped – not to have control, but to have a cloud of witnesses reminding you of God’s love, and his control over things.

After teaching on Sunday, several people came over to tell me ‘thanks’ or ‘God helped me realize something tonight.’ – and each of them was a story I could never have accounted for in a sermon outline.   Two women praying together who happened to share the same disease.  A guy with a story much like mine who had a turning point in his understanding of relationships.  A single mom struggling with caring for her children, and a former nanny who ‘happened’ to pray together.  These were stories I simply could never orchestrate!  Only God could.

All in all, I’m just humbled and thankful for the way that He is providing for us, teaching us and growing us together as a church family.”
